The challenge
We’ve worked with the Sussan Group in Australia for the past 25 years across all of the group’s brands – Sussan, Sportsgirl and Suzanne Grae – as sole strategic and creative partner. Sussan Group is one of the largest fashion retailers in the southern hemisphere, employing over 3,000 people. As one of the only major fashion retailers that is owned, led and run by women, the Sussan group is uniquely placed to truly serve the needs of every generation of Australian woman. We have made this the commercial and creative mission across all the brands.
The spot
Our work for Sussan Group is a true demonstration of our stretch, from vision through to action. We defined the Brand Philosophies for each of the brands as well as the group. We developed the brand identity, design language and brand behaviour for each brand, shaping the whole People Experience, from retail design, product development and collaboration strategy, all the way through to developing and producing the campaigns across owned, paid, earned channels. Always underpinned by cultural anthropology and a people-first approach.
The approach
Recently we were incredibly proud to work on developing the sustainability strategy for the group, aligning the groups ambitions around people, planet and profit. This culminated in the gaining BCorp status in 2024, the first large scale Australian fashion brand to do so.
The work
Over 20 years Portas work for the Sussan Group has spoken to and empowered multiple generations of Australians women. With annual sales figures of $450m+, Sussan Group is now one of the largest fashion retailers in the southern hemisphere.
